Babadam Area is in Rongram Block in West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya state, India. It is situated at about 19 km from district Headquarters Tura in the North. Currently, Babadam Area can easily be visited using Babadam Rd Road from Goeragre Bus Stop or from Rongram by buses and private vehicles.
Babadam Area has one Hospital, BABADAM BAKDIL PHC at the heart of Babadam, one Vetenary Hospital in Buripara (Mengkakgre) village and an ongoing construction for Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Museum in Chidekgre village. There is also a Nokachik (also called Nokmande), the traditional bamboo house in Kemragre, at the foothills of Ranggira.
In Babadam Area, there is a Roman Catholic Church Parish, a church dedicated to St. Mother Theresa (St. Mother Theresa Church, Babadam Parish). The parish was established on 28th June, 2014 by Bishop (Rev.) Andrew R. Marak, bishop of Tura Diocese. There is also a pernament Dal·gipa Krimma Sobha (DK Sobha) site being contructed by the Baptists in Balupara in the north of Babadam weekly market and Babadam PHC (about 3km).
The Polpola, the highest point of Ranggira Peak has also been installed recently with Mobile Tower for supply. The place Polpola, is a meaning flag in local language, which is orally known by the locals that Capt. Williamson Sangma, first Chief Minister of Meghalaya had come on foot, and hoisted a flag at the then called Polpola. The top of the Ranggira peak provides to a nature's lover, to have an amazing view of Babadam Area in the North, Mukdangra-Garobadha areas of plain belt in the west and Tura, the district headquarters in the South.
Babadam Area has a number of primary schools in most villages, middle schools and few high schools. The people of the region is simple minded, generous and approachable. The literacy percentage has just started growing enormously despite schools reached lately into the region only in late 1990's.
The local weakly marketing in this region is on monday.
Currently, there is only one bus that goes from monday to saturday, from Bababam market to Tura through Rongram at 8:00 am and returns from Rongram at about 3:30 pm or 4:00 pm. There are other private vehicles as well.
It has one big football ground in Babadam itself where a number of football and cricket matches are being organised.
The Singwil River has a number of possible picnic spots (originated from Sropgre village and Kemragre village) and flows through Babadam and Selsella. It has also another river, Galwang river that originates from Sanchongre and flows through Sadolpara village in the north.
There are also few caves in the region, two of which are Sanchongre Do•bakkol and Bencha Do•bakkol (both bat caves). Sanchongre Do•bakkol has three magnificent inner big rooms with one being the entrance. One needs to go crawling through a cylindrical-like-hole from one room to the next. Bats are mostly found in the third room, and a cool breeze air can also be experienced. At the entrance cave, there is also a waterfall that is mainly seen during rainy season. Eh, eh! One thing, fat fellows are restricted, you won't be able to go inside the cave.

Interestingly, people also say that great grandmother of Lt. P. A. Sangma, formal Lok Sabha Speaker, was also from Bolmagre village of Babadam. His grandmother was taken as a 'Namchik ra·anga', a practice of Garos in which a girl is taken to the boys' house in marriage to Chapahati village, in South West Garo Hills. Some people also say that great grandmother of Capt. Williamson A. Sangma, was also taken as Namchik ra·a from Mikalpara village to Baghmara in South Garo Hills.
In today's generation, whereever people are, one, from which most can't be separated is network, internet connectivity. Jio SIM users are able to use freely in almost in any parts of Babadam area. The area has about four Jio Towers installed. Other networks that can get signals only in certain hilltops are Airtel and Vodafone.
The people of the area are particularly the Am·bengs, the most largely spoken of the 12 dialects of the Garo.
